WHAT IS MALWARE?
Malware is malicious software designed to damage, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to systems. There are several common types, and each one has a different purpose.
TYPES OF MALWARE (WITH SIMPLE SCENARIOS)
1. Virus
Spreads by attaching itself to files
Scenario: A user downloads a cracked software. When opened, the virus spreads to other files and slows down the computer.
2. Worm
Spreads automatically across networks
Scenario: A worm exploits an unpatched system and spreads to other computers without user interaction.
3. Trojan
Disguises itself as legitimate software
Scenario: A fake “free antivirus” is installed, but it secretly gives attackers access to the system.
4. Ransomware
Locks files and demands payment
Scenario: An employee clicks a phishing email attachment, and all company files become encrypted with a ransom note.
5. Spyware
Secretly monitors user activity
Scenario: Spyware records keystrokes and steals login credentials without the user noticing.
